Starting in October 2007, all new and existing industrial plants in Germany must fulfill the regulations in the Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control (TA-Luft 2002). It applies to almost all industrial plants subject to the German emissions law. Numerous companies are already able to comply with the new limits using permanent magnet couplings.
However, not only German companies need to abide by the new limits. The regulations in TA-Luft must also be followed by companies exporting goods to Germany. In addition, TA-Luft is the national implementation of the European IPPC Directive 96/61/EC, which makes it the authorative guideline for other countries in the EU.
Pumps and agitator drives equipped with permanent magnet couplings from DST meet the requirements in TA-Luft with ease. Even highly toxic or aggressive media can be processed without leakage using the hermetically sealed drives, and even high torque forces are transmitted gently and wear-free through the walls of the container.
Typical applications for DST couplings can be found in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, but also in the food, biotechnology, and measurement technology industries.
